Prince Africa Track Foundation
about us
Prince Mumba Track Club is a Los Angeles–based nonprofit founded by former Zambian 800m Olympian Prince Mumba. Our mission is to empower underserved children through athletics. We believe sports give children discipline, confidence, and a healthy outlet for growth that can shape the rest of their lives. We collect and donate athletic footwear to children in need, meeting a basic necessity while encouraging youth to get involved in sports. Through community outreach, we visit schools, provide shoes, and lead running clinics that give kids the tools and confidence to participate. We currently serve children in Los Angeles and Zambia, and hope to expand to communities worldwide so every child has a healthy outlet for growth, no matter where they live.

About Prince Mumba
Two left shoes
Prince Mumba was born in Kitwe, Zambia, where he grew up running barefoot on dirt roads. His first pair of shoes, a secondhand donation, turned out to be two left shoes. He wore them anyway and kept running. That determination carried him far: by age 18, he had competed for Zambia at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the World Junior Championships, earning a scholarship to Oral Roberts University, where he became a standout athlete and was later inducted into the university's Hall of Fame. Specializing in the 800 meters, Prince went on to represent Zambia at two Olympic Games, Athens 2004 and London 2012, where he served as Zambia's flag bearer. He also competed in multiple IAAF World Championships and All-Africa Games, and trained professionally with the Santa Monica Track Club. His story was featured in Foot Locker's "HOPE" commercial, and a feature film about his life is in development. Today, Prince coaches track and field and cross country in Los Angeles. He founded the Prince Africa Track Foundation to give children the opportunity he once had to create for himself. By collecting and donating athletic footwear and leading running clinics in Los Angeles and Zambia, the foundation helps young people build the discipline, confidence, and sense of possibility that sports gave him.
